SurLuster is a car care brand with roots in 1947. What began as a carnauba wax made in California is today a full range of car care products, developed and manufactured in Japan for drivers who care about the finish of their cars.
Our History
1947 – Joseph Robinson founds SurLuster in Long Beach, California, making car wax with carnauba wax, a natural wax also used in cosmetics.
1949 – Full-scale sales begin under the SurLuster brand name.
1969 – General Motors selects SurLuster Pace and Wax (Blue Wax) as a designated wax for Cadillac.
Early 1970s – SurLuster arrives in Japan, just as car ownership there begins to grow.
Today – All SurLuster products are developed and manufactured in Japan, and SurLuster is one of the best-known car care brands in Japanese retail stores.
